Walkthrough

  1. 01

Same Johto gym order as GSC

    Falkner → Bugsy → Whitney → Morty → Chuck → Jasmine → Pryce → Clair.

    • Gym levels are slightly bumped (Falkner's Pidgeotto is Lv. 13 vs Lv. 9 in GSC).
    • Use the Pokégear's Phone — re-fight trainers after they call you (free EXP/money).
    • Whitney's Miltank still has Stomp + Attract + Rollout + Milk Drink — same X-Defend strategy works.
  2. 02

    Pokéwalker

Came with the cart — let your partner Pokémon walk with you in real life for steps & rewards.

    • Transfer one Pokémon at a time. Steps unlock new courses.
    • Each course has Watts (currency), wild Pokémon to catch, and items like Heart Scales/Rare Candies.
  3. 03

    Walking partner

Your lead Pokémon walks behind you. Talk to it for happiness and gifts.

    • Higher friendship → it occasionally finds Berries or items on the ground.
    • Some rare partner-only conversations unlock special outcomes (e.g., Pikachu near Vermilion port has a unique scene).
  4. 04

    Kanto post-game

    Lv. 50–80

Travel to Kanto, beat all 8 Kanto gyms (Brock-Giovanni; Giovanni replaced by Blue), then climb Mt. Silver to fight Red.

    • After beating Lance, take the train from Goldenrod to Saffron.
    • Kanto leaders are Lv. 50–58. Re-do them in any order; Blue (Viridian) is hardest.
    • After all 16 badges, Prof. Oak gives you access to Mt. Silver via Route 28 (need Surf + Waterfall + Rock Climb).
  5. 05

    Red on Mt. Silver

Level 80–88 team. Bring max revives and your strongest, most varied team.

    • Red: Pikachu (Lv. 88) / Lapras (Lv. 80) / Snorlax (Lv. 82) / Venusaur (Lv. 84) / Charizard (Lv. 84) / Blastoise (Lv. 84).
    • Strategy: Lead with a fast Electric (Magnezone) for Lapras, then Latios (Earthquake) for Pikachu, Tyranitar for Charizard. Stockpile 20+ Full Restores, 15 Revives.

Pro tips

  • Bug-Catching Contest in National Park (Tue/Thu/Sat) — best way to get a strong Pinsir or Scyther early.
  • Headbutt trees + Apricorns = special Poké Balls (Heavy, Lure, Fast, Friend, Love, Level).
  • Safari Zone customization unlocks rare Pokémon.
  • GB Sounds key item lets you play original GB music — pure nostalgia.

Post-game

  • Beat Red, then beat Lance again at the indigo plateau.
  • Catch all 3 legendary beasts, both tower duo (Lugia + Ho-Oh), and event legendaries.
  • Pokéathlon — mini-game arena for medals and prizes.
