Walkthrough

  1. 01

    Single-city open zone

All gameplay takes place inside Lumiose City — a redeveloped, layered urban environment.

    • Use rooftops, alleys, the metro, and elevated walkways. Fast-travel via metro stations after unlocking.
    • Day/night cycle changes which Pokémon appear in each district.
  2. 02

    Z-A Royale ranking battles

Climb the trainer ladder by participating in nightly battle tournaments.

    • Each rank is a bracket — win 3–5 fights to advance. Higher rank = stricter type/format rules.
    • Champion bracket unlocks signature Mega Stones as rewards.
  3. 03

    Real-time battles + Mega Evolution

Action-style combat returns from Legends: Arceus, paired with Mega Evolutions for many old Pokémon (and several new Megas).

    • Position matters: side/back attacks deal more damage; Mega forms have new charged moves.
    • Mega meter charges over time in battle — save it for boss phases.
  4. 04

    Wild Zones

Sectors of the city are reserved for Pokémon habitats — each with unique encounters and Mega Evolution puzzles.

    • Each Wild Zone gates progression by a Mega-only puzzle (e.g., Mega Lopunny's Fighting strength to break a wall).
    • Clearing all Wild Zones unlocks the central Prism Tower for the finale.
  5. 05

    Hyperspace (Mega Dimension DLC)

The Mega Dimension expansion opens portals from Lumiose into the Hyperspace — a parallel pocket dimension with its own 132-entry Pokédex and 23 brand-new Mega Evolutions.

    • Unlock Hyperspace rifts after the main story by finishing the Mega Dimension intro quest in the Wild Zone hub.
    • Hyperspace Pokédex adds 132 species (bringing the game total to 364 alongside the 232-entry Lumiose Pokédex).
    • New Megas debut here — including Mega Raichu X & Y, Mega Garchomp, Mega Absol, and others.
    • Hyperspace zones rotate biomes (sky, ruins, void) — gear up with status healers; wild Megas can appear.

Pro tips

  • Some Pokémon only Mega Evolve at night — check the in-game clock.
  • Build a varied team for Royale — type rotation matters more than raw power.
  • Many new Mega forms — chase the Mega Stones as a side activity.

Post-game

  • Z-A Royale finals + champion bracket.
  • Catch Zygarde forms (10%, 50%, Complete).
  • Side quests across Lumiose's neighborhoods.
