Walkthrough

  1. 01

Same gym order as DP, with rebalanced rosters

Gym leaders use larger teams with smarter movesets — Volkner especially is much harder.

    • Volkner now has Octillery (Lv. 47), Ambipom (Lv. 47), Jolteon (Lv. 49), Luxray (Lv. 49) — way meaner than DP.
    • Fantina now appears EARLIER (3rd gym, before Maylene) — bring Dark/Ghost users sooner.
    • Crasher Wake's Floatzel (Lv. 27) hits a lot harder; Roselia (Magical Leaf) is the easiest counter.
  2. 02

    Distortion World

    Lv. 45–50

After Sunyshore, you'll travel through the Distortion World to confront Cyrus and catch Giratina (Origin Forme).

    • Gravity flips with each platform — walk on walls, ceilings. Visual cue: arrows on the floor show 'down'.
    • Cyrus: Houndoom (Lv. 45) → Honchkrow (Lv. 47) → Crobat (Lv. 46) → Gyarados (Lv. 46) → Weavile (Lv. 48). Fighting + Electric.
    • Giratina (Lv. 47, Origin Forme inside the Distortion World) — paralysis + Dusk Ball or Timer Ball after 20 turns.
  3. 03

    Cynthia rematch in Battle Frontier

Her team scales — bring movesets, not just levels.

    • Resort Area trainers + Fight Area trainers grind EVs and money fast.
    • Battle Frontier: Brain titles (Tower Tycoon Palmer, Factory Head Thorton, etc.) — 21 wins for Silver, 49 for Gold.

Pro tips

  • Fight Stat (EV) trainers in Stark Mountain and Resort Area to grind.
  • Battle Frontier replaces Battle Park with 5 facilities.
  • Give Giratina the Griseous Orb to keep its Origin Forme outside of battle.

Post-game

  • Battle Frontier — 5 brain leaders.
  • Catch Heatran, Regigigas, Cresselia, the lake trio, and Giratina-Origin.
  • Trade with HG/SS to migrate Johto Pokémon.
