Walkthrough

  1. 01

Postwick → Wedgehurst → Wild Area

Wild Area = mini-open-world with level-scaled Pokémon. Don't catch above your badge cap.

    • Camera: rotate with R-stick to see hidden items on tall grass.
    • Watt Trader sells TRs (single-use TMs) for Watts — good for early Earthquake/Fire Punch.
    • Visible Pokémon ignore your level; symbol Pokémon (overworld giants) are higher level — sneak past.
  2. 02

    Turffield (Milo, Grass)

    Lv. 19–22

Bring Fire/Flying/Bug. Use Dynamax against Eldegoss.

    • Sheep-herding puzzle — block Wooloo into the right pen using directional walls.
    • Milo: Gossifleur (Lv. 19) → Eldegoss (Lv. 20, Dynamax: Max Strike + Magical Leaf + Round + Rapid Spin).
    • Counter: Cinderace/Charcadet/Vulpix-Alola. Burn Eldegoss to halve its physical pressure.
    • Reward: Grass Badge + TM10 Magical Leaf.
  3. 03

    Hulbury (Nessa, Water)

    Lv. 22–26

Grass or Electric. Yamper line is great here.

    • Lighthouse puzzle — flip switches to light the path.
    • Nessa: Goldeen (Lv. 22) → Arrokuda (Lv. 23) → Drednaw (Lv. 24, Dynamax Max Rockfall + Razor Shell + Bite + Headbutt).
    • Counters: Boltund (Spark), Toxel/Toxtricity, Gossifleur.
    • Reward: Water Badge + TM36 Whirlpool.
  4. 04

    Motostoke (Kabu, Fire)

    Lv. 24–28

Water/Ground/Rock. Bring a Drednaw or Krabby.

    • Kabu: Ninetales (Lv. 25) → Arcanine (Lv. 25) → Centiskorch (Lv. 27, Dynamax: G-Max Centiferno traps you in Fire Spin loop). Bring 3 Fire counters.
    • Strategy: Dynamax your Drednaw/Krabby — Max Geyser ohkos and sets rain.
    • Reward: Fire Badge + TM38 Will-O-Wisp.
  5. 05

    Stow-on-Side (Bea/Allister)

    Lv. 32–36

Sword: Bea (Fighting) — Psychic/Fairy/Flying. Shield: Allister (Ghost) — Dark/Ghost.

    • Bea: Hitmontop → Pangoro → Sirfetch'd → Machamp (Lv. 36, G-Max). Bring Corviknight or Hatterene.
    • Allister: Yamask → Mimikyu → Cursola → Gengar (Lv. 36, G-Max Cursed Body). Bring Morpeko, Scrafty, Liepard.
    • Reward: Fighting/Ghost Badge + TM42 Revenge / TM77 Hex.
  6. 06

    Ballonlea (Opal, Fairy)

    Lv. 36–40

Steel/Poison. She quizzes you mid-battle — answers don't really matter.

    • Opal: Weezing-Galar → Mawile → Togekiss → Alcremie (Lv. 40, G-Max Finale + Decorate + Draining Kiss). Lead Klang/Klinklang or Skuntank.
    • Reward: Fairy Badge + TM87 Draining Kiss.
  7. 07

    Circhester (Gordie/Melony)

    Lv. 40–44

Sword: Gordie (Rock) — Water/Grass/Fighting. Shield: Melony (Ice) — Fire/Steel/Fighting.

    • Gordie: Barbaracle → Shuckle → Stonjourner → Coalossal (Lv. 42, G-Max Volcalith). Bring a Drednaw or Sirfetch'd.
    • Melony: Frosmoth → Darmanitan-Galar → Eiscue → Lapras (Lv. 44, G-Max Resonance). Lead Centiskorch or Sirfetch'd.
    • Reward: Rock/Ice Badge + TM39 Body Slam / TM27 Icy Wind.
  8. 08

    Spikemuth (Piers, Dark)

    Lv. 44–48

Fighting/Bug/Fairy. He doesn't Dynamax — you can either.

    • Piers: Scrafty → Malamar → Skuntank → Obstagoon (Lv. 48, Obstruct + Counter). Bring Hawlucha, Sirfetch'd, Gardevoir.
    • No Dynamax fight — pure stat check. Use stat-boosting moves like Bulk Up.
    • Reward: Dark Badge + TM85 Snarl.
  9. 09

    Hammerlocke (Raihan, Dragon)

    Lv. 46–50

Ice/Dragon/Fairy. He uses double battles + weather.

    • Raihan: Gigalith + Flygon (sandstorm setup) → Sandaconda → Duraludon (Lv. 48, G-Max Depletion).
    • Strategy: Lead Cinderace + Hatterene. Dynamax Cinderace for Max Flare (sun cancels sand). Hatterene tanks Dragon.
    • Reward: Dragon Badge + TM99 Breaking Swipe.
  10. 10

    Champion Cup

    Lv. 55–65

Tournament-style finale — re-fight gym leaders, then Hop, then Leon.

    • Semifinals: Marnie (Sword) / Bede (Shield), then Hop. Both have 6-mon teams Lv. 55+.
    • Leon: Aegislash → Dragapult → Haxorus → Seismitoad/Mr. Rime/Rhyperior (counters your starter) → Cinderace/Inteleon/Rillaboom (counters yours) → Charizard (Lv. 65, G-Max Wildfire).
    • Save Dynamax for Charizard. Lead Dragapult/Tyranitar with Rock Slide.

Pro tips

  • EXP Candy from Max Raids = fastest leveling in the series.
  • Watts (Wild Area currency) buy TRs — single-use TMs.
  • Pokémon Camp + curry recipes boost friendship and stats.
  • Y-Comm replaces Festival Plaza — connect for raids and trades.

Post-game

  • Battle Tower (Wyndon).
  • Isle of Armor DLC — Dojo + Kubfu/Urshifu.
  • Crown Tundra DLC — Dynamax Adventures + Galarian Legendary Birds + Calyrex.
