Generation I
- When used on a Pokémon from the Bag during battle, the Pokémon's chance of getting a critical hit is reduced by 75% (due to a glitch) while it is in battle.
Generation II
- When used on a Pokémon from the Bag during battle, it raises that Pokémon's critical hit ratio by 1 stage while it is in battle. It also increases the Pokémon's friendship a little.
- This improves the default critical hit odds from 17/256 to 1/8.
