Battle Strategy
Jumpluff functions as a premier fast support and disruptor, primarily utilized on Sun-based teams to activate its Chlorophyll ability. Its goal is to outspeed the entire field to land status moves like Sleep Powder or provide utility through Tailwind and Strength Sap.
Best Used In
Jumpluff excels in Gen 9 VGC Regulation G and sun-focused teams where its speed can be abused to provide immediate speed control and sleep pressure.
Strengths
- ›High Speed stat further doubled by Chlorophyll
- ›Access to reliable recovery through Strength Sap
- ›Utility movepool including Sleep Powder, Tailwind, and Encore
- ›Immunity to Ground-type moves and powder-based moves
Weaknesses
- ›X4 weakness to Ice-type moves
- ›Extremely low offensive stats (Base 55 Attack and Special Attack)
- ›Poor defensive bulk makes it susceptible to priority moves
- ›Useless if Taunted or if weather is changed
Competitive Tips
- ›Use a Timid or Jolly nature with 252 Speed EVs to ensure you outspeed Choice Scarf users under Sun.
- ›Equip a Focus Sash to compensate for its frailty, allowing it to survive one hit and at least set Tailwind.
- ›In VGC, use Tera Ghost to avoid Fake Out and Extreme Speed and safely execute Sleep Powder.
- ›Utilize Infiltrator as an alternative ability to bypass Reflect, Light Screen, and Substitutes.
- ›Cycle Strength Sap against physical attackers to prolong Jumpluff's presence on the field while neutering threats.
